Golden Eagles open season at Bakersfield Duals

BAKERSFIELD – The 2024 Lemoore College wrestling season got off to a solid start with the Golden Eagles competing on Friday at the Bakersfield College Duals tournament.

"We wrestled very well," said Lemoore head coach Marcio Botelho. "We lost a close dual to Cerritos, one of the top teams in the state year in and year out."

Botelho pointed out great performances from Jimmy Reyes (125 lbs.), Joshua Valdivia (125), Cesar Guzman (141), and Phillip Arroyo (157). All four wrestlers went 2-0 at the event while Arroyo won both matches by fall.

Also for the Golden Eagles, Botelho praised the efforts of Gio Urbieta (2-1), Ethan Anderson (1-1), Joey Clark (1-1), Robert Filipe (1-1), Andre Packs (1-1), Issac Olivas (1-1), Juan Pablo (1-1), and Daniel Jacuinde (1-1).

Lemoore is back in action on Wednesday (Sep. 18) when the Golden Eagles travel to Fresno City College for a pair of dual matches. Lemoore is set to take on Sierra College and host Fresno City, beginning at 4 p.m.
