Golden Eagles finish fifth at Southern California Regionals, host State Championships Dec. 13-14
MONTEREY PARK – Led by a first-place finish by Jimmy Reyes, Lemoore College totaled 104 points to tie for fifth place out of 11 teams at the 2024 Southern California Regional Championships on Saturday at East Los Angeles College.
Lemoore will host the upcoming two-day 3C2A State Championships at Golden Eagle Arena that gets underway on Friday (Dec. 13) at 10 a.m. Tickets are available online at the 3C2A tickets page.
Thanks to their eighth-place or better individual showings at the regional tournament, the Golden Eagles will have a total of nine wrestlers competing at the state championships.
Reyes went a perfect 3-0 at the regionals to earn a gold medal in the 125-pound weight class for the Golden Eagles. He defeated Jesse Hernandez of Cerritos College in the championship final by a 9-4 decision.
Also earning medals for Lemoore were Phillip Arroyo with a third-place showing at 165 as well as Xavier Moran who took third at 285.
