Golden Eagles close out 2024 with 7th place finish at State Championships
LEMOORE – With a score of 61 points, Lemoore College finished in seventh place out of 20 teams at the season-ending 3C2A State Championships. The two-day event, hosted by Lemoore, closed out on Saturday at Golden Eagle Arena.
Four of the Golden Eagles' nine wrestlers that qualified for the event placed among the state's top-six. Jimmy Reyes at 125 and Gio Urbieta at 133 both led the way with third-place showings in their respective weight divisions.
Reyes was a 3-1 winner over Ryland Madrid of Mt. San Antonio College in the third-place match. He ended the weekend with a 4-1 record. Urbieta had a huge win in his third-place match as he earned a 21-8 major decision over Santa Ana College's Ricardo Solorio. Urbieta closed with a 5-1 record.
Also for the Golden Eagles, Philip Arroyo took fourth place at the 165-pound weight class and Robert Felipe finished fifth at the 184-pound division.
