KNIGHTS SWEEP WEST HILLS-LEMOORE FOR FIRST WIN

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's volleyball team went 1-2 on the opening week of the season, losing to Southwestern Oregon Community College and Santa Rosa Junior College in straight sets before sweeping West Hills-Lemoore for its first win of the year.

Against Southwestern Oregon, Shasta lost 25-17, 25-15, 25-22. Elizabeth Lopez led the way with seven kills for the Knights while Emma Mangini had five kills. Rose Young dished 13 assists, Jacie Clavelle had eight assists and Corinne Rickey had a team-best five digs.

Shasta lost in straight sets to Santa Rosa 25-19, 25-18, 25-11. Brooke Vaughan led the way with seven kills, Emmarae Westphal had five kills and Magini had four kills. Young registered 17 assists and Vaughan had a team-high three service aces.

The Knights swept West Hills-Lemoore 25-18, 25-12, 25-14. Westphal had seven kills, Vaughan had six kills and Magini had five. Young totaled 20 assists, Vaughan added six service aces and Shasta had four players in double digit digs: Westphal (14), Vaughan (13), Clavelle (12) and Rickey (11).

Shasta (1-2) plays four matches this week – two at the Cosumnes River Triangular and two at the San Joaquin Delta Tournament.
