Golden Eagles win two at Cuyamaca Tournament

West Hills College Lemoore sophomore Mack Tarver Jr. went off, putting up games of 26 and 23 points to help lead the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins at the Cuyamaca College tournament. WHCL opened the tourney with an 87-74 victory over Imperial Valley College on Friday and closed it out with a 75-61 win over host Cuyamaca on Saturday.

The wins improved West Hills to 3-1 overall to open the 2021-22 season.

The Golden Eagles built a 44-33 lead at halftime over Imperial Valley before cruising to the win. West Hills nailed 10 three-pointers in the contest, getting five from Tarver Jr.

Camron Wilson posted a double-double against IVC with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Sahildeep Dhillon came off the bench to contribute 10 points.

West Hills continued its hot shooting from beyond the arc on Saturday, sinking 11 three-pointers against Cuyamaca. Tarver led the charge with four 3s and added four rebounds and four steals.

Wilson added 19 points and eight boards and DaMari Tate chipped in with five points and eight rebounds.

WHCL returns to action on Wednesday (Nov. 17) when it hosts Gavilan College in a 5 p.m. non-conference game.
