The West Hills College Lemoore men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling by a final score of 4-1 at Compton College on Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles were coming off a dominant 6-1 victory at College of the Siskiyous in their season opener on Friday. But the squad couldn't keep the offensive show going in Compton.

The Tartars jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, getting goals from Jose Perez in the fifth and Jason Martinez in the 16th minutes. West Hills freshman Edgar Lopez finally got the Golden Eagles on the board, scoring his first goal of the season in the 29th minute.

WHCL trailed 2-1 at the break before Compton put the game out of reach with a goal by Angel Gonzalez in the 49th minute.

Freshman Christian Lamas totaled two saves in goal for the Golden Eagles.

West Hills Lemoore will look to get back on track on Friday (Sep. 3) when the Golden Eagles travel to Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria for a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
