West Hills College Lemoore freshman Edgar Ballestreros provided all the offense the Golden Eagles would need, scoring twice to help his squad win 2-1 at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria on Friday.

The non-conference victory improved the Golden Eagles to 2-1 overall.

Ballestreros gave West Hills an early 1-0 with his goal in the 20th minute off the assist from Danoban Batres. West Hills held that narrow lead all the way until late in the second half when Ballestreros found the back of the net for his second goal in the 81st minute.

Allan Hancock (0-2-1) made things interesting, getting a goal from Juan Montelongo in the 86th minute, but the Golden Eagles were able to hold off the late-game surge from the Bulldogs and secure the win.

Allan Hancock outshot West Hills 12-10, including 9-4 in the second half. Goalkeeper Sergio Sierra earned the win with five saves for the Golden Eagles.

West Hills returns to action on Wednesday (Sep. 8) when it hosts Feather River College in a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
