West Hills explodes in second half for 6-1 season-opening win

Freshman Vicente Rojas scored four goals, including a hat trick in the second half, to help lead the West Hills College Lemoore to an impressive 6-1 win at College of the Siskiyous in both teams' season opener on Friday.

The Golden Eagles scored five goals in the second half to turn a close first-half game into a blowout.

Rojas got West Hills on the board with his first goal in the 30th minute. He struck again in the 50th minute and scored two final times in the 80th and 85th minutes to close out the scoring for the Golden Eagles.

Danoban Batres and Edgar Lopez both contributed a goal and an assist, and Angel Flores was credited with two assists.

Christian Lamas played well in goal for West Hills to earn the victory.

West Hills returns to action on Tuesday (Aug. 31) when the Golden Eagles travel to Compton College for a 3 p.m. non-conference game.
