The West Hills College Lemoore men's soccer team snapped a five-game losing streak thanks to a 1-1 draw at Merced College on Friday.

With the tie, the Golden Eagles' record moved to 4-6-2 overall and 0-2-1 in Central Valley Conference play.

The two squads battled to a scoreless first half. But in the 50th minute, an own-goal by Merced gave the Golden Eagles a 1-0 advantage.

West Hills appeared to be on its way to the win, but late in the 88th minute, Thomas Knierieme buried a penalty kick for the Merced equalizer.

Sergio Sierra played well in goal for West Hills, allowing just the lone goal.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 12) when they host Clovis Community College in a Central Valley Conference game.
