Fernandez leads Golden Eagles to 103-32 rout of Taft

Sophomore Alejandra Fernandez put together a monster game, totaling 26 points and a season-high 16 rebounds to help lead West Hills College Lemoore to a 103-32 Central Valley Conference victory over visiting Taft College on Wednesday night in their final home game of the season.

The 103 points also marked a season-best for the Golden Eagles as five of eight players that saw action on court scored in double figures.

Fernandez was nearly perfect shooting for West Hills in her second-to-last contest for the Golden Eagles. She made 10 of 13 field goals and was 5 for 6 from the free throw line. Fernandez added 3 steals and an assist to close out her line.

West Hills also got double-doubles from Janae Tolbert and Luzelena Parks. Tolbert posted 19 points and 11 assists while Parks had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Off the bench, Daniella Cuevas and Morgan Turner added 13 points each.

With the win, West Hills improved to 9-18 overall and 5-6 in Central Valley Conference play. The Golden Eagles will close out the 2019-20 season on Friday (Feb. 21) when they travel to College of the Sequoias for a 5 p.m. CVC game.
