Golden Eagles go 3-0 to open season, capture CRC Invitational championship

The West Hills College Lemoore women's basketball team got the 2021-22 season off to an impressive start. The Golden Eagles won all three games over the weekend on its way to the Cosumnes River College Invitational championship in Sacramento.

West Hills opened the tourney with a 71-62 win over Los Medanos College on Thursday, followed that with a 61-58 victory over Allan Hancock College on Friday, and defeated Los Angeles Trade-Tech College 52-46 in the championship final on Saturday.

For their strong play, sophomore Jada Heights and freshman Sade Booker-Honeycutt were named to the CRC Invitational all-tournament team.

Freshman Audrey Gonzalez Alvarez had a big game in the tourney opener as she scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the win over Los Medanos. Booker-Honeycutt had 15 points, five assists, four steals, and 3 rebounds also had a great all-around game.

West Hills will look to make some noise next week when they will compete at the VC-Kiwanis Tournament of Champions. The Golden Eagles begin the three-day tournament next Thursday (Nov. 18) and will take on host Ventura College at 6 p.m.
