Golden Eagles named No. 16 seed for NorCal Playoffs, earn 3 All-CVC honors

The postseason run for the West Hills College Lemoore women's basketball team officially begins this week as the Golden Eagles were named the No. 16 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs. West Hills will host No. 17 College of the Siskiyous in a Round 1 game on Tuesday, March 1 at 5 p.m.

Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) postseason game at WHCL's Golden Eagle Arena are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old. The contest will also be broadcast live on the West Hills College Lemoore Athletics YouTube Channel.

First-year head coach Omari Pringle got West Hills off to an amazing start this season, winning seven of its first eight games. The Golden Eagles went on to finish fourth in the Central Valley Conference at 6-6 and enter the playoffs with a 16-11 overall record.

"I am very proud of our coaches and staff for the season and earning a spot in the playoffs," said WHCL Athletic Director Andrea Picchi. "It was not easy with the COVID challenges and restrictions we faced. Their hard work and perseverance allowed them to reach many goals despite those." 

West Hills returns to the NorCal playoffs for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

Siskiyous is 18-8 overall this season and finished in third place in the Golden Valley Conference with a 5-5 mark. The Eagles are led by head coach Noelle Collier and are making their 10th straight playoff appearance.

The winner of Tuesday's game will advance to Round 2 to face No. 1 San Joaquin Delta College on Thursday, March 3 in Stockton. Three wins are needed by the Golden Eagles to advance to the CCCAA Basketball State Championships on March 11-13 which is being hosted by West Hills College Lemoore.

Following the close of the regular season, West Hills Lemoore captured three All-CVC postseason honors:

First Team – Audrey Gonzalez Alvarez (Fr., G), Sade Booker-Honeycutt (Fr., G)
Honorable Mention – Clarissa Chavez (Fr., G)
