Ayon, Joint capture titles, West Hills fifth at Golden Eagle Tournament

Lupe Ayon and Wayne Joint won individual championships to help lead West Hills College Lemoore to a fifth-place team finish at the Golden Eagle Tournament on Saturday.

Five Golden Eagles placed at the tournament to earn 89.5 team points.

Ayon went 4-0 at the 149-pound weight class, including two pins and a technical fall. In the final, hbeat Donovan Sanin in a 12-4 major decision.

Joint also compiled a 4-0 record on the day, beating Jose Cisneros with a 4-0 decision in the 141-pound final.

Also placing for West Hills were Justin Tripp (3rd, 184-pounds), Tavin Avila (4th, 285), and Landen Cabaje (6th, 157).

Mt. San Antonio College was first with 151 team points, followed Cerritos (121), Bakersfield (90), and Rio Hondo (90).

West Hills returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 30) at 4 p.m. when the Golden Eagles host a three-way dual match with Fresno City and Sierra.
