Marcio Botelho is entering his seventh year with the wrestling program here at WHCL. Botelho decided to expand his passion for coaching and became the head wrestling coach at West Hills College Lemoore in 2017. Since taking over the program, Botelho has coached several athletes that placed in state championships, All-Americans, and has coached his team to a conference championship. In 2019 and 2021, he was named Conference Coach of the Year.

Botelho began his coaching career not too long after wrapping up his collegiate career at Fresno State. Marcio became the head wrestling coach for Lemoore High School soon after college. While serving as head coach from 2009 to 2022, he coached numerous state champions, state placers, and six top-10 teams in the state of California.

Coach Botelho takes great pride in guiding his athletes to reach their fullest potential on and off the wrestling mat. Botelho’s goal is to have every wrestler leave his wrestling room better than when they first walked through the door.

He began his wrestling career at Lemoore High School from 1996-2000. During his high school career, he placed in the state of California twice and became a state champion during his senior year. In high school, Botelho was named an All-American in Freestyle and Greco Roman. He was one of the first triple crown champions in California.

After high school, Coach Botelho continued his wrestling career at Fresno State. While at Fresno State, he was a four-time conference finalist and a four-time NCAA qualifier. In 2003, Coach Botelho received All-American honors at the NCAA Championships.
