Gary Joint is entering his third year as an assistant coach here at WHCL. He began his coaching journey in 2021 coaching three state champions in the 2021 season along with two other California Community College state placers along with coaching a conference championship team. In 2022, Joint coached two state finalists in the CCCAA State Championship. Joint is dedicated to leading athletes to reach their highest levels in competition and in the classroom and wants every individual that is a part of the West Hills wrestling program to come out strong and well prepared to succeed in life.

Gary Joint was a Division I wrestler for Fresno State university from the years 2017-2020 and left when the school cut the wrestling program, where he was ranked in the top 20 in the nation through 2019 and earned a bid to the 2019 NCAA tournament by taking 5th at the Big 12 championship. Joint was a high school California state champ in 2017 and placed 3rd in the state in 2016 wrestling for head coach Marcio Botelho. Joint was also a Kansas two-time high school state finalist and multiple-time All-American in freestyle, greco, and also collegiate wrestling.
