Golden Eagles open CVC play with win at Reedley

New head coach Kevin Wilds has the West Hills College Lemoore women's volleyball team off to a 1-0 start in Central Valley Conference play thanks to a marathon five-set win at Reedley College on Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles took the match by scores of 25-18, 21-25, 16-25, 25-19, 15-12 to improve to 2-4 overall. Since starting the season 0-3, West Hills Lemoore has won two of its last three matches.

Sophomore Claire Broomfield continues to lead the Golden Eagles on offense. She totaled a match-high 20 kills to go along with 20 digs and three aces. Morgan Turner had 10 kills and Melissa Hernandez chipped in with seven.

The West Hills defense totaled 98 digs on the night, led by 22 from Haleigh Fagundes and 16 by Monica Macias. Makayla Alapisco Zamora had a good match with 20 assists, six aces, and 12 digs while Kimberly Beltran posted 19 assists and 11 digs.

West Hills Lemoore returns to action on Friday (Sep. 17) when the Golden Eagles host Porterville College in a 6 p.m. conference match.
