Golden Eagles soar to conference sweep of Columbia

The West Hills College Lemoore women's volleyball team was scheduled to host Columbia College in a Central Valley Conference game on Friday. Instead, the Golden Eagles put on a serving clinic.

West Hills totaled a season-high 30 aces, including eight each from Kaitlyn McKee and Desiree Clay, on its way to a 3-0 sweep of Columbia. The Golden Eagles won the match by scores of 25-9, 25-21, and 25-6 to improve to 5-12 overall and 3-6 in CVC play.

West Hills overwhelmed Columbia and played solid defense. The Golden Eagles totaled 31 kills on the night while limiting Columbia to just eight kills on 33 attempts. Morgan Turner posted a match-high nine kills while Claire Broomfield had eight kills to pace the offense.

Setter Makayla Alapisco Zamora also had a good match with 19 assists, seven aces, and six digs.

The Golden Eagles will look to keep the winning momentum going when they host Taft College next Friday in a 6 p.m. Central Valley Conference match.
