Golden Eagles suffer losses at East LA; open conference next at rival West Hills Coalinga

MONTEREY PARK – West Hills College Lemoore hit the road to Southern California for its final two matches before the start of Central Valley Conference play. Unfortunately, the Golden Eagles dropped both at the East Los Angeles College Quad.

West Hills opened the event taking on host East Los Angeles. The Golden Eagles battled but ultimately lost to the No. 22 state-ranked Huskies 3-1 (25-16, 24-26, 25-14, 25-8).

Leah Mosqueda led WHCL with 13 kills while Sariah Serrano had 10 kills and a team-high 16 digs.

The Golden Eagles wrapped up their day with a 3-1 (19-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-20) loss to Chaffey College. Mia Elizondo had a huge match despite the defeat and led West Hills with 7 kills and 23 digs.

The Golden Eagles, 2-5 overall, will take some time off until they open conference play at in-district rival West Hills Coalinga on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m.
